5 years in Iraq – NYT reminds us what went so wrong

March 17, 2008

Our military should never have been there in the first place. Since they did, the least Bush, Bremer and others should have done was follow the advice of the intelligence and military folks who know a little something about what happens when you invade a country then disband its military…sigh.

This doesn’t really count as news and it’s not clear to me that the NYT is any more likely to pick up stories like this more quickly now than it was five years ago. Nevertheless, it’s important to mark the anniversary of such a catastrophic failure.
